Second opinion
Why people ask for a second opinion
Maybe an IVF cycle did not work and nobody could quite explain why. Maybe you were told donor eggs are your only option, or that your AMH is low and treatment should start straight away. When the stakes are this high, it is natural to want another expert to look at the same facts.
A specialist from our network reviews your reports, scans and treatment history, then talks you through what they see. They might agree with the plan, suggest a small change, or recommend a test that was missed. Whatever they find, you will understand the reasoning behind it.
Asking for a second opinion is not a sign of distrust, and good doctors welcome it. You are free to stay with your current clinic. Our job is to help you feel sure about the path you choose.
Is this for you
A second opinion can help if you
- have had one or more IVF or IUI cycles that did not work
- have been advised to use donor eggs or donor sperm
- were told your AMH or egg reserve is low
- have had repeated miscarriages without a clear reason
- have been advised surgery, for example for fibroids or endometriosis
- simply feel unsure about the plan you have been given
Before you send it
Useful to send
- Hormone reports such as AMH, FSH, LH and thyroid
- Ultrasound and scan reports
- Your partner's semen analysis
- Summaries of previous IVF or IUI cycles, including embryo details
- The treatment plan or advice you were given
Nothing to hand yet? Send your message anyway. We will tell you what is worth having.
How it works
What happens after you press send.
A person reads what you send before anyone calls you, and nothing is booked until you say yes. That part never changes.
-
Step 1
Send your reports
Attach your test results, scan reports and the plan or cycle summary from your clinic.
-
Step 2
We check the file is complete
A coordinator makes sure nothing important is missing and asks for anything that is.
-
Step 3
A specialist reviews it
A doctor who treats your situation every day studies your history in detail.
-
Step 4
You talk it through
The specialist explains what they found and answers your questions, by phone, video or in person.
Your questions
What people ask us about this.
If yours is not here, put it in your message or call us. A person will answer it properly.
01 What does a second opinion include?
A specialist reviews your reports, scans and treatment history, then talks you through what they see and what they would suggest. You can ask as many questions as you need.
02 Is there a fee for a second opinion?
Sending your reports and having a coordinator read them commits you to nothing. If a detailed specialist review or consultation is needed, you will be told the fee before anything is booked.
03 Will my current doctor find out?
Only if you choose to tell them. Your reports are used only to answer you, and nothing is shared with any clinic without your agreement.
04 Do I have to move my treatment to your clinic?
No. Many people take the advice back to their own doctor. If you would like to continue with a clinic in our network, we can help with that too, but there is no pressure either way.
05 Can you review an IVF cycle that failed?
Yes, this is one of the most common reasons people come to us. Send the cycle summary, embryo reports and your hormone results, and the specialist will look for anything that could be done differently next time.
06 Can I get a second opinion from another country?
Yes. Reports are reviewed remotely, so you can talk to a specialist by video before deciding whether to travel.
07 What if the specialist agrees with my current plan?
Then you can go ahead with more confidence. Many people find that hearing the same advice from a second expert is exactly the reassurance they needed.
